Olson’s Rolling Robots

Assistant Professor Edwin Olson takes his competition-winning team of robots a step further and helps the Federal Railway Administration to build a system capable of detecting unsafe railway crossings.

There are many research trajectories in the world of robotics, and within computer science and engineering, researchers are particularly interested in vision, perception, mapping, sharing and processing of information, decision making, and machine learning. Professor Olson’s robots are the ideal platform for this type of inquiry, and you can learn more from his APRIL (http://april.eecs.umich.edu/) and Team Michigan (http://april.eecs.umich.edu/magic/) webpages. You can learn more about other robotics artificial intelligence projects or another aspects of computer science and engineering by visiting the Computer Science and Engineering Division website.
